An imitation of Sylvia Plath’s “Metaphors” from Adam Valdez, Narration: Rae Toonrud.
I am an ocean with five borders,
Cannibal for the two, in order.
A bird sees excursion — explorer.
I’ve drunk the blood dripping off the tree
I’m a string hung up to god’s degree
This flight’s a trip: a snake for two fee.
We sipped and eaten not to cleanse it.
Our struck, rippling pulse gets hit.
Traveling the boat of no exit.
